Locksmith Blackpool

There is a vast range of reasons for people requiring the services of a locksmith, some of which are a lot more common than others. This is why our team at Apex Mobile Locksmiths have put together a handy guide on the most common reasons for locksmith call outs so should you ever find yourself in one of these situations you will know exactly what to do.

Locked Out – Almost everyone will experience being locked out at some point in their lives, and this is by far one of the most common reasons for a locksmith call out! This is never a pleasant experience, and most do find it quite stressful. Luckily, the help of a trusted local locksmith is never far away. By calling a reliable local locksmith they will be able to attend your property and quickly gain entry to your home without causing any damage to the existing lock or door, they will also be able to change the locks in the same visit if necessary for extra security. It is important, if you do ever find yourself in a lock out situation that you do a bit of research when looking for a locksmith, unfortunately there are locksmiths out there that overcharge and can cause unnecessary damage so its worth checking reviews and asking the locksmith you call if they are able to gain entry to your home without causing any damage.

Lock Upgrades or Changes – Now more than ever it is getting increasingly popular for locksmiths getting a call to come and upgrade existing locks. This is partly due to new minimum requirements set by insurers meaning you have to have a certain standard of lock fitted to your door in order to take out a policy. In most cases insures require your locks to meet or exceed BS3621 or in the case of uPVC doors TS007. It is also worth knowing that some insurers have been known to not pay out on claims made with existing policies if your locks don’t meet their minimum requirements.  This is the main reason for people requiring a lock changed or upgraded however, another common reason for people wanting the locks changed is when they move into a new property. By having the locks changed when you move into a new property you can be sure that only you and those you trust have a copy of the key. It is also a requirement by some insurance providers to have the locks changed when you move into a new property.

Lock Repairs – Another common reason for locksmith call outs. Just like anything else locks are prone to general wear and tear. This is oven due to how frequently they need to be used. When a lock fails the best option isn’t always to replace the lock completely, sometimes it’s a lot easier to repair the broken component and can save you a bit of money as well. Any good local locksmith will be able to identify the fault and advise you on the best course of action.

Repairing Burglary Damage – In the event of a burglary it is always recommended that you have the locks changed as soon as possible even if there is no damage it is possible that the intruder could have taken a copy of the key to use at a later date. Any window locks and or handles that were damaged will also need replacing, a locksmith will know what size handle and lock is right for the windows that you have. Most locksmiths also provide a boarding up service for any broken windows.
